ASP WEB HOSTING – FLEXIBLE, FAST AND POWERFUL

Active Server Pages or ASP in website hosting uses the ASP programming language developed by Microsoft. Even though classic ASP is no longer supported, Microsoft pushes the ASP.NET version for web hosting. ASP.NET is HTML pages with embedded ASP scripts processed on the server before sending the page to the user. This allows for a very fast and powerful web experience.

Web pages displayed on the internet are either static or dynamic. Static pages display information that never changes while dynamic pages can change content automatically. Dynamic, server-side scripting loads changes on the server before sending to the browser. PHP and ASP.NET program languages are examples that use server-side scripting.

ASP.NET – To Use Or Not To Use?

Website hosting with ASP.NET is easy to learn. It is also very flexible and powerful. Designed with less code and more predefined commands it is faster to learn than Classic ASP. Being a popular programming language, it is easy to find answers to any questions you may have when using ASP.NET hosting. There are many free tutorials on the internet that will help you with building various types of web pages. It also works well with other programming languages such as JavaScript and VBScript.

WebHostForAsp.net Support both Classic ASP and ASP.NET Web Hosting, simple choice for the great Hosting package.

ASP (Active Server Pages) was for the first time was released in December 1996. Since then it has been through major changes and has grown and tailored to the new methods of developing web sites and applications for the internet over the period of time. There are two major forms of ASP:

o Classic ASP and
o ASP.net

In ASP.net major weight is on n-tier architecture in the application development and there is separation of data presentation, business logic and data access layers. In classic ASP these layers are mixed leading to the development of ineffective solutions with huge architecture that are difficult to sustain. The ASP.net offers object oriented approach for the software development where as ASP does not support classes. Only VBScript and Javascript were available for scripting in ASP where as, in ASP.net there are no such restrictions.

The .net compliant languages can be used with ASP.net like C# and VB.net, where both of them are server-sided languages where as in ASP only VBScript and Javascript are available as options to be used. Then the ASP pages are interpreted and the ASP.net Code is compiled .Traditional ASP can run only on- Microsoft platforms but ASP.net can be run on non- Microsoft platforms also. ASP runs under the inetinfo.exe IIS (Internet Information Server) process space and can lead to application crashes due to the start and stop process used by IIS. While ASP.net process is separate from inetinfo.exe and is not related to the IIS process isolation settings. The debugging process is easier in ASP.net.

In classic ASP the executable code cannot be separated from the HTML making the page difficult to read and maintain. The code block has to be placed when ever the output is to be shown. This limitation of code is overcome in ASP.net by the use of server controls. The HTML and Web Server Controls created on the server require a attribute to work. This attribute indicates that the page will be processed on the server. At the same time it implies that the enclosed controls can be accessed by server scripts. Validation Server Controls are a big advantage in ASP.net. It saves a lot of time and developers do not have to write their own functions as it is with ASP. Built-in validation increases the application reliability. Through this Double validation on client and server side can be performed.

The use of ASP.net pages gives a performance and security edge. It supports the usage of any .Net language. There is no restriction over the use of JavaScript or VB Script on your Web pages. Finally it can be said that ASP.net has opened up a whole new programming model with the blend and combination of web forms, server-side controls, data binding along with web services. ASP and ASP.net has just scratched the surface of the Microsoft Active Server Page technology, which will continue to improve in the coming years with the latest additions on the technology front.

WebHostForAsp.net support both Classic ASP and ASP.NET at all of our hosting package.

A content management system (CMS) is the collection of procedures used to manage work flow in a collaborative environment. These procedures can be manual or computer-based. The procedures are designed to:

1. Allow for a large number of people to contribute to and share stored data
2. Control access to data, based on user roles. User roles define what information each user can view or edit
3. Aid in easy storage and retrieval of data
4. Reduce repetitive duplicate input
5. Improve the ease of report writing
6. Improve communication between users

In a CMS, data can be defined as nearly anything – documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, scientific data, etc. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, revising, semantically enriching, and publishing documentation. * source : Wikipedia.

Application service providers (often referred to as ASP’s) have rapidly grown into the web hosting in an effort to provide companies a new and innovative services. The term ASP should not be confused with Microsoft Corporations software application.
The number of applications provided through an ASP model began to evolve. Therefore, there are many companies that can grow with the development of software for the ASP market. Like what applications are being developed? As a remote-hosted applications can provide effective access to unique software, many applications made to are designed and created to become a requirement in terms of its use. In the other case can only be directed to use the connectivity provided through the Internet to provide ease of use of flexible applications.
ASP that has created software programs to handle various business functions such as materials management, human resources, financial management, and e-commerce transaction services. The various solutions offered by ASP’s is vast. Many of ASP who was doing great business in meeting the operational needs of companies in various industries and business functions. But there are some technical issues that are handled by the ASP’s to be able to develop and improve the system applications.
The main advantage for businesses to use ASP services, they are able to provide an opportunity to improve efficiency in terms of reducing expenditure or cost. Companies will be able to have access to broad reach of all software products with the required fee. This allows companies to access the application services to meet specific business needs, and the company can focus on running their operations.

ASP also is developing a new software that can provide business solutions to the problem of a company’s operations that were not through software-based PC. ASP can easily delete the many administrative and technical maintenance issues associated with software by providing real-time upgrades, remote hosting, remote dial customer support and overall software management.

Did you notice that many people are still using ASP? This is somewhat strange due to the popularity of.NET. Why are they still using the classic instead of the new and powerful ASP.NET? First of all,.NET has XML-based components, better language support and user authentication, and a huge set of new controls. It can also increase performance by running code that is already compiled. However,.NET code is not backward compatible with ASP code, making transitions somewhat time consuming.

Classic, unlike ASP.NET, is running under the IIS process space, otherwise knows as inetinfo.exe. It is prone to crashes and can also force the IIS to be restarted..NET has the entry point in the IIS, the process itself is separate from it. Classic does not know how to operate on non-Microsoft platforms (for example on the Apache server) whereas.NET is fully capable of doing so. Classic only supports JavaScript and VBScript as scripting languages while ASP.NET can work with all.NET languages. Classic ASP has limited support for debugging, making it a tough job while its competitor not only improves the performance of debugging, but also adds debugging tools for developers.

In ASP, if you have a script block that is marked as “runat=server” and this block contains a function, you are allowed to include executable code outside the scope of the function. ASP.NET does not allow this and instead uses the code-behind technique. There are a lot of pros and cons to this technique. Another strong side of classic ASP is the threading model. The threading model is Single Threaded Apartment (STA) and the older one’s worker thread is contained in its own STA. This ensures compatibility and also increases performance. ASP.NET uses the MTA (Multiple Threaded Apartment) which forces developers to take extra precautions.

So why do people still use ASP instead of the more powerful.NET? Well, one cause would be the knowledge. You need a lot more basic knowledge to work in.NET than you need in classic ASP. Even low level things seem hard to do in.NET. There are a lot of things you should learn and you should have a lot of free time if you truly want to master.NET. Many people recommend classic to average users because they don’t need any of the new features and the performance is almost the same. There are also a lot of applications, tips and tricks, and tutorials available for classic ASP. Only large corporations truly have to work with ASP.NET to gain scalability in their technology.

If you require more information about ASP Hosting, please contact Webhostforasp.net at http://webhostforasp.net/contactus.aspx
